Very cool
Now, I've had this Clip for a few days but I'm very happy with it so far. It was a display unit at Wal-Mart (behind glass case, so not a lot of people messing with it). They had it marked at .99, but they had no earbuds and the wrong USB cable with it so I convinced them to sell it to me for ! I was practically skipping out of the place! All you need is a mini-b usb cable, I found three or four in different places when I got home. And no loss with the earbuds.

Anyway, very good sound quality, great little screen. I do wish there was a way to view a countdown timer when listening to music instead of an elapsed time...minor gripe.

I really love the drag-and-drop ability of this player. I had an iPod Nano 4GB, but I just got sick of using iTunes...and the endless popups from Apple to upgrade iTunes, install Safari, install Quicktime...very annoying. I'm selling the iPod.

great display
I have had the Sansa Clip 8gb for about a month now & I am so happy with it. I generally listen to audiobooks on my MP3 players, but I have a bit of music on the Clip as well. I cannot believe the sound quality, it is great.

This is my second Sansa, my 1gb m240 cost almost as much as this one, so I'm happy prices have come down a bit. The old Sansa is still working & I have used it for recording as well as playing. The Clip has a few more features and so far, I'm very pleased. But most of all I love the display. The blue on black really works, I can see it so well, even the small font. And it is bright...such a tiny display on a tiny player & I could not be happier.

Another feature I like is the ability to rewind or fast forward beyond the part of the book currently playing. I have used it with Overdrive, which is the download program with my local library.

I definitely recommend this little player...it works like a charm & is about the size of one.

awesome mp3 player
I bought mine at a store actually, but I realized soon enough how amazing this device is a massive storage player. It is loaded and plays flawlessly,it is worth the 50.00 dollars I paid for it. My only complaint is that finding accessories is difficult and you can only find them online. This a great product overall all the power of an i pod,but cheaper!!!!

Superior to its iPod Shuffle counterpart
I have been a Clip 2GB owner for about 6 months now, and have recently purchased the 8GB. I will tailor my review with a comparison of a the iPod Shuffle, since that's its closet competitor:

1. Cost. The Clip is the obvious winner, here. An 8GB Clip is actually cheaper than a 3G 4GB Shuffle.

2. Sound Quality. The Clip (as well as the Fuze) are known for their excellent sound quality. Of course, you'd need to replace the ear-buds with something better, to hear the difference. The newer Shuffle's SQ are OK, but the Clip is superior.

3. Appearance and UI. I feel the Clip looks nicer than any of the Shuffle versions. And since the Shuffle has no screen, the Clip wins with its excellent UI.

4. Extra features. The Clip also offers voice recording and an FM Radio. Maybe this appeals to you, maybe it doesn't. I personally find the voice recorder very useful.

5. Windows / MacOS / Linux support. For the Clip, you can use MTP mode for Windows (this allows syncing through Windows Media Player, for example). Or, you can use MSC mode to turn the device into a portable device that would work on Linux / MacOS. The older Shuffles have limited Linux support, and I'm not sure if the latest 3G Shuffle would work at all.

6. Codec support. The Clip is generally better in this area, with one important exception (see #7). MP3 of course, WMA, and FLAC / OGG Vorbis with newer firmware.

7. iTunes support. This is probably the main thing that turns people away, so be aware of it. The current firmware (as of this writing) does not support AAC - that is the audio codec that Apple uses for their iTunes-based music files. You also cannot use iTunes to sync the player, which makes sense given that iTunes is an Apple product.

Bottom line: If you are not locked into needing iTunes compatibility, the Clip is the clear winner, here. But, if you are stuck with legacy iTunes-based music, you will probably be disappointed with this product.

SOME PLAYLISTS DON'T SHOW...
The player is great. It responds fast and is loaded with features. The problem is that some playlists don't show. Can somebody tell me how to make all my playlists show?
